I damaged or lost a resource. Now what?
Members are expected to make reasonable restitution for loss or damage to items. Failure to do so may result in a temporary frozen account (policy for an overdue item) or, in extreme cases, complete loss of library card privileges, at the directors discretion.
We know that items which get used are going to break down and wear out. If the damage is within the realm of normal wear and tear please just let us know when you return the item or fill out a damage report at www.figtreelibrary.com/damage. Reporting damage does not automatically make you responsible.
If the loss or damage is due accident or negligence we ask the following:
- inexpensive items (less than $20): you may purchase a replacement of similar or better quality and condition on your own (this may include a second hand copy) or give a monetary donation in the value of the item.
- expensive items: please contact the library and we will discuss what would be fair on a case by case basis. (Based on the item, condition of the item when you received it, your families financial situation, popularity/availability of that resource, etc)
Even though all the resources in the Fig Tree Library have been donated we still want to make them to last as long as possible. Please treat items respectfully and with care.
Those who abuse the library and its resources are subject to loosing library card privileges at the directors discretion.
Why haven’t I received a response to my inquiry?
I only dedicate Mondays’ to doing office work for the library. This will likely be the day you will receive responses to emails, form inquiries, or library card requests. If it has been more than 10-14 days since you have tried to contact the library, please send an email to figtreeresourcelibrary@gmail.com.
The library is also closed during the summer.
What if I have concerns about the content of a resource?
If you have any concerns about the content of an item you have checked out let us know at www.figtreelibrary.com/content.
You will also notice color and symbol codes in the library catalog to help you navigate your selections. Learn more by visiting https://figtreelibrary.com/classifications-and-symbols
