Books that Build Character & Teach Virtue
Books that build character and teach virtue should line the shelves of every family desiring to send their young arrows straight and strong into the world ahead. To train up the heart of a child to love that which is good and right should be the aim of every parent, but especially of those in the household of faith.
Below you will find some of the books we have used in our family to instill quality character attributes and build personal character.
The Children’s Book of Virtues
A treasury of delightful stories to encourage kids toward virtuous living. My mom read us this book as a child, and I especially enjoyed “The Please” story.
There is also a larger volume called The Book of Virtues by the same author.
Berenstain Bears Values & Virtues
Brother and Sister bear along with their little sister Honey learn valuable life lessons.
A Hive of Busy Bees
Don and Joyce visit their grandparents for the summer and learn valuable lessons along the way.
The Christopher Churchmouse Treasury
Christopher and his cousins learn valuable lessons as they grow up as little church mice. Short chapters and large illustrations make this a great option for young children as bedtime stories or early reading.
What Would Jesus Do?
What happens when a small-town pastor and a handful of children choose to live the way Jesus would? Faced with difficult decisions, they learn to love, share, and forgive in ways that impact the entire community.
